When choosing a therapist, counsellor or psychologist, you should select an individual who belongs to a regulatory organization
with professional standards and a code of ethics.
The following are examples of such organizations;
however, the College of Psychologists of BC is the only one listed that is a government mandated body to protect the public interest.

is the national professional association of psychologists
and counts students, researchers and health care providers among its membership of over 7,000.
- BC Association of Clinical Counsellors
is dedicated to enhancing mental health and providing professional counselling, consulting, assessment, testing and training services all across BC
- Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association
is a national bilingual association of professionally trained counsellors engaged in the helping professions.
